St George Illawarra Dragons captain Cameron McInnes is set to miss the start of the NRL season with a knee injury.

McInnes, 26, injured his knee in the NRL nines grand final over the weekend, and the club have confirmed that he has suffered a medium-high grade MCL injury and could be out for up to three months.

Isaac Luke is expected to start in the number nine role in his place, after joining from New Zealand Warriors at the end of last year.

Korbin Sims was feared to have rebroken the same arm he hurt last year, but tests have showed no new fractures.

Fullback Matt Dufty had surgery on Monday night to stabilise his fractured cheekbone, and will spend around four weeks out.
