Adam Cuthbertson remains head coach of Rhinos Women

After a successful first season with the Leeds Rhinos Women, head coach Adam Cuthbertson will remain in his post for the 2019 campaign. 

Cuthbertson led his side to the team’s first Women’s Challenge Cup trophy after beating Castleford in the final at Warrington. He also saw his side reach the Women’s Super League Grand Final which the Rhinos lost to the Wigan Warriors in a thrilling final in Manchester.  

The 33-year-old said: “I am delighted to continue in my role as head coach of the Women’s team in 2019.  I really enjoyed my first season and was so proud of the team and all they achieved.  We have a big season coming up and new challenges, but I am excited about how the team are progressing and what they can go on to achieve.”

One of those new challenges will be filling the gap created by the departure of Rhiannion Marshall who recently moved from Leeds to rival side Castleford Tigers. 

Rhinos have already hosted trials and will continue to search for new talent with yet more try outs in the coming weeks and months. 

Cuthbertson added: “We have a very talented team and many more coming through in our Academy so I am really optimistic about the future.

“We had trials for the Academy last week and the standard was really strong.  It is great to hear how the women’s team are inspiring more girls to play rugby in their schools and clubs and how the women’s game in the city is continuing to grow.”

Fixture for the 2019 Women’s Super League season are yet to be announced however, the season is expected to start in April.
