Adding the Extras #8 – No to Alofa, Hull KR go green, Rochdale back onside
No to Alofa
Regular readers of this column will be aware of the various rugby union interview opportunities we get presented by various uneducated PR agencies. This week’s one was to interview Harlequin (sic) players Tim Visser, Will Collier and Alofa Alofa at The George pub in Twickenham next Friday ahead of the Six Nations. There is at least a minor rugby league connection, Kiwi-born Alofa did come through the ranks at Sydney Roosters before switching to union in 2013.
Hull KR go green
Hull KR have launched a new initiative to cut the club’s usage of single use plastic. All draught beer will now be served in one of the brand-new Eco-cups, while plastic cutlery has been replaced with wooden knives, forks and spoons on the concourse. Cups will cost just £1. When you buy your first drink you will be charged an extra £1 but that can be claimed back if you return your cup at the end of the game.
Rochdale back onside
The Rochdale Hornets Foundation hosted its first Back Onside session this Wednesday night, with a superb turnout of over 20 men from all over Rochdale. Back Onside is an initiative that will help men get back into exercise and to improve the health of men who have fallen away from sports and exercise, as well as helping to foster an environment that promotes positive mental health. Back Onside is primarily aimed at men aged between 35 and 64 but fixtures are open to all ages, and are free.
