Jackson Hastings would ‘love’ to right some wrongs back in NRL one day

Jackson Hastings says he has learned about himself while at Salford and would love to prove doubters wrong back home in the not too distant future.

The 23-year-old joined the Red Devils ahead of the Qualifiers last season and steered them to Super League safety with a number of standout performances.

Hastings then signed a one-year contract extension with Ian Watson’s side, despite interest from elsewhere.

After a couple of misdemeanors while at Sydney Roosters and Manly Sea Eagles, Hastings said he would love to prove doubters wrong back in the NRL one day.

“I definitely want to play in the NRL again,” Hastings told NRL.com.

“It’s not so much unfinished business, but it’s the fact that a 22-year-old kid made a few mistakes and got the flick.

“I’d love to go home eventually and right some wrongs. I want to prove myself right and prove that I’m not a bad person and that I can play at level consistently every week.

“I feel I let myself down on the field and I let myself down off the field as well so those two combined is a recipe for disaster, but I’ve learned lessons on the field and off it as well.

“I felt as though I lost a lot of things that I was good at back home but over here, I feel like I’ve found what I am good at and I’m doing them consistently every week, so hopefully if I play good every week over here and keep being good off the field then I can get the chance to go home and right some wrongs.”
