Twitter Talk: Fans have their say on how the Great Britain squad should be selected
Fans have had their say on how the reformed Great Britain squad should be chosen by coach Wayne Bennett.
The Lions tour was confirmed earlier this week, with Bennett’s side playing Test matches against New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tonga this autumn.
There has already been debate as to how the criteria should be for Great Britain selection.
A lot of people think it should be based on purely merit, with the likelihood being that it will be full of England players.
While others believe it should include players from all countries, so it would be a include mixture of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales players.
Could it work if there was a minimum of four players who has represented each country? E.g. Micky McIlorum, Tyrone McCarthy, Kyle Amor and Scott Grix could be selected as Ireland’s representatives.
Regan Grace, Ben Flower, Gil Dudson and Tyson Frizell could be Wales representatives. Scotland’s representatives could be Lachlan Coote, Kane Linnett, Danny Brough and Luke Douglas.

The return of GB is good but has the potential to be a political nightmare if not managed “properly”. Already there’s comments about simply rebadging England, heritage players etc. The anthem will be interesting choice..England use God Save the Queen so that could alienate others

In regards to heritage players etc, the eligibility rule I believe is that a player can only play for one tier one nation; is GB classed as tier one? And if so, would heritage players not be able to then play for country of birth?
