Sam Kasiano: ‘I’d only seen Catalans once before signing’
Catalans new recruit Sam Kasiano admits that he had only seen the Dragons play once before agreeing to sign for the club.
The 28-year old joined Steve McNamara’s side on a three-year deal from NRL side Melbourne Storm after spending seven seasons at the Canterbury Bulldogs.
However, he admits that wasn’t too familiar of the French outfit before agreeing to make the move.
“I think I’d only seen one [Catalans] game before I joined and that was the Challenge Cup final which we won,” he said.
“I wanted to come and experience France. I was over the NRL to be honest and I’m looking forward to this new opportunity. There’s a great squad here capable of doing big things, and I want to be a part of that.”
“I spoke to Kenny Edwards [before joining], Krisnan Inu too. It was all positive feedback and that made it easier for me.”
Kasiano stated that he only stopped training last week ahead of his move, and with the Dragons currently pushing for a spot in the top five, McNamara had expressed his desire for the rampaging front-rower to hit the ground running.
“He’s an absolute game-changer. He can do things that other players simply cannot do,” McNamara said.
“I want Sam to bring the things he’s good at. He’s a skilful man and I want him to play with a smile on his face.”
