Steve Price: Warrington have the best forward pack in Super League
Warrington coach Steve Price reckons his forward pack is the greatest in Super League right now.
On Sunday, the Wolves beat Wigan 26-24 in the sixth round of the Challenge Cup at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Price believes his forward pack is better than any other in England, as well as suggesting hooker Daryl Clark is the league’s best No. 9.
When asked if there was a better hooker in Super League than Clark, Price replied: “I don’t think so.
“Daryl Clark been really consistent over a number of weeks. His running game today was fantastic. He got knocked around a bit early on but played really tough. He got over the advantage line and caused havoc.
“I’d like to think our pack is the best. I’m sure some other coaches would disagree but I think Hilly [Chris Hill] and Coops [Mike Cooper] have really been laying down a solid foundation for us over the last couple of weeks.
“Our interchange have been igniting the fire when they have been coming on and playing with a huge amount of rage. They are exciting but we have got to keep evolving and improving.”
Warrington will travel to the KCOM Craven Park for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup after being drawn against Hull KR.
On the draw, Price commented: “There are no easy games now.
“The Halifax-Bradford draw is going to be exciting and we’ve got Hull KR at their place.
“Nothing changes for us, we respect the opposition and we will prepare well when that time arises.
“We enjoy the Challenge Cup for what it is today but we will get back in the grind tomorrow and start focusing for Hull FC on Saturday.”
Price confirmed Daryl Clark and Matt Davis received stitches in their win over Wigan but will be okay to face Hull FC at home on Saturday.
