Ryan Carr insists Featherstone performance against York in no one-off
Featherstone Head Coach Ryan Carr says his side are well and truly back in the hunt for a top five spot after they dismantled York to temporarily move into the top five of the Betfred Championship.
Ryan Carr’s men – inspired by Dane Chisholm and Tom Holmes in the halves – ran in eight successive tries and led 42-0 before a late surge from the Knights meant they avoided a whitewash.
Speaking after the game, Carr praised his side and acknowledged that their strong performance was certainly not down to luck.
He said: “The team has been working really hard; we deserved what we got today. It hasn’t come from luck or chance.
“This is down to the boys’ hard work and all of the sacrifices that they have been making. Whenever you’re playing someone ahead of you it’s always a good game.
“York are sitting third, they enjoyed a really good start to the season and they’re a quality opposition. To take two points against them is huge for our season.”
After a slow start to the 2019 campaign, Featherstone have now moved to third in the table after recording their third straight league win.
Furthermore, the win also proved to be Rovers’ first at a Summer Bash, something which Carr admits has been a cause for expectation amongst their fan base.
“There were big expectations on us and the boys reacted well to it,” Carr said. “They’ve got a lot of belief at the moment and they’re a tight-knit group.”
