Toronto have appointed former Leeds man Chris Plume as their new assistant coach.

Plume spent several years at Leeds working with current Wolfpack coach Brian McDermott, including as assistant from 2012 until 2017.

He said: “The chance to work with Brian McDermott, Brian Noble and an extremely talented squad is a very exciting prospect for me.

“I’ve experienced working in a different sporting sector for the last two years but always knew I would return to rugby league if the right opportunity came up.

“TW is the most exciting venture in rugby league and one that I feel has already and will continue to have a positive impact on the future of rugby league.

“The first job is to help the club reach Super League.

“Having watched the Wolfpack’s progression over the course of the season it is clear to see that something is building.

“My aim is to add to the group whether that be technically or tactically all with the aim of helping the progression to continue.”

During his playing days, Plume turned out for Sheffield, Huddersfield, Gateshead and Hunslet, and has recently been working as the Sports Performance Director for Worksop College.

Wolfpack coach Brian McDermott added: “We are really pleased that Chris has agreed to join our Club. He has coached at all levels of Rugby League including developmental, scholarship, reserve grade and Super League.

“He has a huge amount of experience and has been part of a coaching staff at the sharp end of our industry where he has been responsible for delivering success to the highest caliber of player.

“He will suit our environment that expects the same standards and he knows the goal: deliver a winning team that gets promoted.”
