Hull KR confirm departure of Tim Sheens

Hull KR have confirmed the departure of head coach Tim Sheens with immediate effect.

Speculation surrounding the future of the Australian started earlier this week, with reports suggested he would be sacked, and these have now finally been confirmed by the club.

Sheens, 68, has been in charge since the end of the 2016 season, leading the Robins to an immediate return to Super League and guiding them to survival last term.

But they have managed only five wins this season so far, placing them second bottom in the Super League table, and were last week knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Warrington.

A club statement said: “A recent run of six defeats in seven league games during the current campaign, which leaves the club sat next to the bottom of the league, and an exit from the Coral Challenge Cup at the weekend, has prompted a change.

“Further comment will be made in due course.”
