League One round-up: Doncaster thrash Oldham, Young inspires Newcastle, Workington hit form
Doncaster came up with the performance of the weekend in League One.
Doncaster earned their second victory over Oldham in the space of a week thanks to a 31-0 scoreline at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Jordie Hedges (2), Watson Boas, Sam Doherty and Jordan Howden crossed the whitewash for the Dons. Doncaster duo Jack Brown and Jez Litten and Oldham pair Gareth Owen and Richie Hawkyard were sin-binned in the second half for fighting.
Whitehaven were made to work for a 32-18 win by Coventry Bears at the Recreation Ground.
Andrew Bulman (2), Sam Forrester (2), Jason Mossop and Jake Moore (2) all crossed the whitewash for Haven.
A masterclass from Lewis Young inspired Newcastle Thunder to an emphatic 48-12 victory over North Wales Crusaders at Queensway Stadium.
Jared Blanke, Mikey Lewis (2), Young (3), Keal Carlile, Joe Brown and Kieran Gill (2) got on the scoresheet for the North East side.
Workington Town ran in 10 tries to thrash West Wales Raiders 58-12 at Stebonheath Park on Saturday.
Gordon Maudling, Fuifui Moimoi, Sean Penkywicz, Perry Singleton, Stevie Scholey, Ryan Fieldhouse, Dec O’Donnell, Sam Hopkins, Oliver Wilkes and Blain Marwood scored for Town.
Hunslet eased to a 34-0 victory over Keighley Cougars at the South Leeds Stadium.
Ben Heaton (2), Nathan Chappell, Gareth Potts, Mike Emmett, Duane Straugheir and Zach Braham went over for the hosts. Keighley back-rower Josh Lynam was sin-binned on the hour for delaying a restart.
