New Zealand Warriors forward Chris Satae is set to sign a four-year deal with Hull FC.

The 26-year-old – who can play anywhere in the pack – has made 15 NRL appearances for the Warriors since making his professional debut back in 2017.

Satae – who was born in Tonga – has been granted a release from the Warriors and is set to pen a deal with the Airlie Birds until the end of the 2023 season. He will link up with Lee Radford’s side this week.

Warriors general manager of football, Brian Smith, said: “We’ve reluctantly agreed to Chris’ request for an early release.

“He was contracted until 2021 but he has received an opportunity in England for the rest of this season and then another four years. It gives Chris and his family tremendous security and we wouldn’t want to stand in his way.

“He has been really impressive for our Canterbury Cup side but has had limited chances to play for the NRL side due to the competition for places.

“We’re really happy for Chris, we thank him for everything he has done for the club and we wish him all the best for the future.”
