League 1 round-up: Oldham stun Newcastle, Beharrell field-goal & tempers flare
Oldham produced the result of the weekend in League 1.
Oldham edged past Newcastle Thunder 28-20 at the Vestacare Stadium on Sunday.
Kyran Johnson, Danny Bridge (2), Cameron Leeming and Gareth Owen scored for the Roughyeds.
Workington Town ran in 11 tries to thrash West Wales Raiders 66-22 at Derwent Park.
Jonathan Walsh (2), Danny Tickle, Russ Bolton, Gordon Maudling (2), Caine Barnes, Sean Penkywicz, Blain Marwood (2) and Sam Hopkins crossed the whitewash for Town. Workington’s Caine Barnes and West Wales’ Gioele Celerino were sin-binned on the hour for fighting.
North Wales Crusaders beat Coventry Bears 33-16 at the Queensway Stadium on Sunday.
Alex Thompson Rob Massam, Dec Gregory, Brad Brennan, Dave Eccleston and Joe Ryan scored for the Crusaders.
A field-goal from Matty Beharrell sealed a 33-32 win for Doncaster against London Skolars at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Beharrell, Sam Doherty, Russ Spiers and Rangi Chase went over for the Dons.
Hunslet defeated Keighley Cougars 32-10 at Cougar Park in a game that saw three players sent off and three players sin-binned.
Zach Braham, Jordan Andrade, Duane Straugheir, Tom Ashton and Dale Bloomfield scored for Hunslet. Keighley’s Dan Parker was sent off for a headbutt, while Hunslet duo Josh Tonks and Bloomfield were sent off for fighting at the end of the game.
Cougars pair Kieran Moran and Taylor Prell were yellow carded for fighting in the second half, while Straugheir was also sin-binned for fighting.
