Sunday Social: Holbrook the pantomime villain, Tributes to Archie Bruce, Wigan honour Westwood
It is time for Love Rugby League’s Sunday Social, your alternative recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past seven days.
Justin Holbrook was in attendance of Friday night’s game between Wigan and Warrington at the DW Stadium, and it’s safe to say that the presence of him and his coaching staff didn’t go down too well with supporters! Both sides could be potential play-off opponents for the Saints in a few weeks time.

Following their match on Friday, Wigan presented Warrington forward Ben Westwood with a special memento on what could prove to be his last visit to the DW Stadium. The 38-year veteran, who has made just short of 450 appearances in Primrose and Blue, recently announced his retirement at the end of the season.

There doesn’t seem to be any stopping Canberra at the moment. The Raiders recorded a 22-18 victory over Melbourne at AAMI Park, recovering from 18-0 down to close the gap at the top of the NRL table to six points. Ricky Stuart’s side have now won five of their last six matches.

Tributes have been pouring in for young Archie Bruce, who tragically passed away after making his Batley debut against Toulouse yesterday. One of those tributes came from St Helens forward Alex Walmsley, who made 19 appearances for the Bulldogs in 2012.
Incredibly sad news to wake up to, my condolences go out to his family, friends and teammates at both Batley and Dewsbury Moor. RIP Archie ❤️ https://t.co/6I6cp8xqiJ

London really are the side that just won’t give up. They claimed an unfancied 17-4 victory over Catalans at the Stade Gilbert Brutus to go level on points with Hull KR, Huddersfield and Wakfield, all of whom play this afternoon. Just look what the win means to the Broncos squad.

And finally, St Helens’ club photographer managed to capture a superb photo during their victory over Leeds at Headingley. Safe to say this isn’t something you see everyday – bravo!
This Saints team is on a different planet ??
