Valentine Holmes misses NFL cut
Valentine Holmes has failed to make New York Jets’ 53-man roster but he has been given a slight chance to make his name in the NFL.
The former Australia and Queensland rugby league representative left Cronulla Sharks in April to try and make a name for himself in American football.
He has played a couple of trial matches for the Jets so far but he has failed to make the 53-man squad.
However, he was one of several players included in the practice group that will work with the main squad each week to prepare for games.
Holmes is one of four players in this year’s NFL international player pathway programme and the 24-year-old had eight receptions for 85 yards in pre-season games.
The ex-rugby league star is a running back in the NFL and he will remain in New York in an attempt to make his break in the sport.
