Justin Holbrook delighted with St Helens’ unbeaten home record
Justin Holbrook says he wants St Helens to create a legacy at the Totally Wicked Stadium after they completed the regular season unbeaten at home.
The Saints have yet to drop points at home in 2019, losing only to Catalans in April, London in both June and July and Warrington in the Coral Challenge Cup Final.
At the Totally Wicked Stadium, the Saints have averaged 37.4 points in league and cup compared to just 26.9 on their travels.
It is the first time they have gone unbeaten on home soil since 2002 back at Knowsley Road. In that year, the Saints went on to beat Bradford 19-18 at Old Trafford to claim Grand Final silverware.
Now, Holbrook says the challenge is to ensure the Totally Wicked Stadium, their home since 2012, can become a fortress for years to come.
Following their 48-6 win over the Giants, he said: “It’s tremendous. It is obviously really difficult to do, but to be able to win all our home games in the regular season is a huge effort and something that we’re really proud of.
“For myself, it’s the first year that nobody has mentioned Knowsley Road. It’s got a great history and I’m not trying to downplay that.
“As a group we said we wanted to make our own mark with this stadium. The fans really get behind us and play a huge part [in our success], so to go the regular season unbeaten at home is a great achievement.”
