Manchester Lions make first signing for 2020
Utility back Brandon Wood has become the first player to join the recently rebranded Manchester Lions on a two-year deal from 2020.
Wood, 19, follows the path of Matty Ashton, another product of amateur side Rochdale Mayfield, and has scored 10 tries for Rochdale Hornets this season.
He said: “Having spoke to Stuart about his plans for the upcoming season, I think it is going to be a great opportunity for me.
“I believe the Lions are going to be big competitors in the Championship. I can’t wait to get started with the lads in pre-season.”
Lions coach Stuart Littler added: “Brandon is a young and exciting player who has certainly troubled us this year in our match ups with Rochdale.
“After meeting Brandon I am sure he will fit nicely into our exciting young team and he is definitely coming here for the right reasons.
“Our edges have been flying this year and I am sure Brandon is as excited as we are with the opportunities that this will provide for him.”
