London Broncos have announced the signing of Widnes front-rower Dan Norman on a two-year deal.

Warrington born Norman made 19 appearances for Keiron Purtill’s side last season, appearing at Wembley as the Vikings suffered defeat in the 1895 Cup Final at the hands of Sheffield.

The 22 year old has appeared for England at under 16 level and made his Super League debut in 2018 against Salford Red Devils.

The Vikings are expected to announce a number of player departures over the coming days as they prepare to build a part-time squad for 2020.

On the news, Norman said: “I am really thankful for the opportunity I have been given. I cannot wait to get started down in the capital under Danny Ward and his staff and am excited to pull on a London jersey for the first time.

“I am also looking forward to meeting the all the boys and becoming part of something special while ripping in to pre-season with them all.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Widnes Vikings for all they have done for me over the years and for giving me the chance to play professional rugby but now its onto my new challenge and making the most of my time at London Broncos.”

Broncos Head Coach Danny Ward said: “Dan is an exciting young prospect we are hoping we can bring the best out of at Broncos.

“He is a big human and can move well for a prop. He is what we are about at London; he’s a good bloke, young, hungry and keen to work hard and get better.”

Chairman David Hughes added: ” We will lose a few players following the 2019 season and Dan epitomises the kind of player we are looking to get on board. He is a talented player and I hope he can bring some firepower to the team in 2020.”
