Castleford link up with York in dual-registration partnership
Castleford and York have become the first clubs to confirm a dual-registration partnership for 2020, despite the return of the reserves system.
The two clubs previously linked up in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and it means the Championship side can use players from Castleford when not selected by Daryl Powell.
Castleford Director of Rugby Jon Wells said: “We are delighted to enter into a dual registration partnership with the York City Knights for the 2020 season.
“With this partnership and the return of the reserve grade system for next season we can ensure playing opportunities right across all ages and experience levels.
“The two clubs will work closely with one another and we feel this will be a benefit to both.”
York didn’t utilise dual-registration in 2019 on their run to a third placed finish in the Championship, though were linked with Hull KR during their League 1 title-winning season in 2018.
Coach James Ford said: “It’s a positive step for us to link up with Castleford. I’m confident we can build an excellent relationship where both clubs benefit on and off the field.”
