There seems to be a lot of player movement going on in rugby league this week.

Ferres to Featherstone

Featherstone Rovers have snapped up veteran international forward Brett Ferres from Leeds Rhinos for 2020, report League Weekly.

The 33-year-old has played 86 games for the Rhinos over the last four seasons but his contract with the club expired at the end of the season. Ferres will be a Featherstone player next season, according to League Weekly.

Frawley on way out of Huddersfield

Matt Frawley’s future is set to be resolved soon, with the one guarantee being that he will not be a Huddersfield Giants player next season, report League Express.

The 24-year-old has been told he is free to find a new club and his departure will be confirmed in the next few days, according to League Express.

Brierley linked with Bradford

Toronto Wolfpack half-back Ryan Brierley could join Championship side Bradford Bulls on loan next year, report League Weekly.

The Canadian club have declined to pay Brierley out and may be keen for him to join Bradford instead, who they are set to link up with on dual-registration next year, according to League Weekly.

RFL could bring in 21-man squads

The Rugby Football League has outlined proposals to introduce 21-man squads in 2020 as part of a major overhaul of the game’s squad list procedures, report League Express.

Clubs will lose an interchange if they draft in a player from outside their 21-man squad for the match, according to League Express.

Toronto offer SBW stake in club

Toronto Wolfpack are hoping to seal a sensational deal for Sonny Bill Williams by giving him a stake in the newly-promoted Super League club, report League Weekly.

The Wolfpack are prepared to offer the dual-code New Zealand international a significant minority stake of around 5% in the Canadian club in order to secure his services, according to League Weekly.

Headingley double-header

Toronto Wolfpack will begin life in Super League as part of a double-header at Emerald Headingley involving Leeds Rhinos, Hull FC and Castleford Tigers, report League Express.

The opening weekend of the season will see Leeds face Hull and Toronto take on Castleford, which will be classed as one of the Wolfpack’s ‘home’ games, according to League Express.
