Australia playing midweek games on Kangaroos tour “still possible”

Australia playing midweek games on their Kangaroos tour in 2020 is still under discussion, according to Rugby Football League chief executive Ralph Rimmer.

Mal Meninga’s side will tour England next autumn, with a three-match Ashes series having already been confirmed.

England will host Australia in games at the University of Bolton Stadium, Elland Road and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Wigan, St Helens, Leeds and Toronto have expressed interest in playing Australia on their tour next year.

When asked if the Kangaroos could play midweek games, RFL boss Rimmer replied: “It’s still under discussion.

“It’s possible logistically but it’s important we need to make it stack up from a commercial perspective.

“It’s not impossible.

“We focussed on what we needed to nail down quickly, which was the tests themselves, and then we’ve worked outwards from there.”
