David Weetman returns to Newcastle

Newcastle academy product David Weetman has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club for 2020.

Weetman made the step up to Thunder’s first-team ahead of the 2018 season and has played six games for the club to date.

The loose forward spent time at Keighley last season and is Newcastle’s 19th confirmed player for next season.

Weetman said: “I’m thrilled to be back after being out at Keighley last season.

“It was a good experience for me, it allowed me to test myself out of my comfort zone and it was a good way to get some valuable game time. I’m confident that the experience will help me in my career and for this season at Thunder.

“I want to keep developing as a player and add to my existing appearances for the club by cementing a spot within the matchday 17.

“I know that will be difficult with the quality players we have signed and retained, but I will work hard and push my self to be in the best position possible to do so come the start of the season.”
