Ryan Fieldhouse calls time on his career

Former Halifax and Barrow star Ryan Fieldhouse has retired from rugby league with immediate effect.

The full-back played for Halifax, Dewsbury, Barrow and Workington during his career, scoring a total of 98 tries in 189 appearances.

Fieldhouse said: “This year has tested me as a person in more ways than one – physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

“This has not been an easy decision at all and having time away doing my rehab has give me time to think about my family and my future.

“I would like to thank my wife Kirsty and my family for all the support and love over the years.

“As one door closes, another door opens and I am excited for what is to come in 2020 and I’m looking forward to the next chapter with my beautiful family.”
