Steve Price lauds Toronto Wolfpack’s coup of Sonny Bill Williams
Warrington coach Steve Price admits he is a big fan of the work Toronto Wolfpack are doing.
The Canadian club have made the biggest signing in the game’s history over the off-season, having signed dual-code superstar Sonny Bill Williams on a two-year marquee contract.
Price believes Williams, who will earn £5.4million during his two years with the Wolfpack, is a huge coup for Super League.
Price said: “I think its great what Toronto have done and credit to David Argyle (owner) and Brian McDermott (coach).
“It is a great coup for them to be able to attract an unreal sportsman to our game. Hopefully we can attract a broader audience to our great game.
“It is going to be great going over there and a good spectacle but I feel that it is definitely going to improve as a whole and a lot of teams have recruited really well, so I feel the competition is going to be a lot stronger this year.”
Price is a fan of the Toronto franchise and would like to see the club take the game to wider audiences.
He added: “I think it is important that the game get Toronto right and get a bit of stability in and around the organisation.
“We’ve got to grow their brand to try to attract a wider audience and bring more money in and once we get that – hopefully we can widen the two days there so we just need to get the backbone right with it.”
