Danny Brough could return within two months

Wakefield half-back Danny Brough could be back in action within two months after first fearing that he could miss the rest of the season.

The 37-year-old went off with what was a suspected anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the 30-12 defeat at Hull KR last Friday.

But the injury has now been diagnosed as a less serious posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) which will not require surgery.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester said: “He’s got some damage to the PCL and injured his ankle in the same tackle.

“We’re fairly confident it’s not an ACL so we’re now probably talking six to eight weeks.

“I think he’s more concerned about the foot than anything else, I’ve known players – Gary Connolly at Wigan for example – play for a number of years without a PCL.

“It’s a case of managing it. We’re a lot more positive than we were initially.”
