Sunday Social: Hull KR’s try of the season contender, St Helens nilled & Lussick brothers face-off

It is time for Love Rugby League’s Sunday Social, your alternative recap of the serious and not so serious talking points from the past seven days.

In the round two opener, Warrington produced a major statement of intent by beating champions St Helens 19-0 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. It was the first time they have kept the Saints scoreless since their 16-0 win in the 1982 Lancashire Cup Final.

Despite falling just short in a sensational Humberside derby on Friday night, Hull KR may have already produced a contender for try of the season. The ball went through 10 pairs of hands prior to Ben Crooks finishing in the corner – sensational stuff!

The Robins supporters also got a chance to show their support to their number 10 Mose Masoe last night by wearing Masoe masks in the 10th minute of the game. The 30-year-old suffered a career-ending spinal injury in a pre-season friendly against Wakefield last month.

Prior to yesterday’s meeting between Salford and Toronto at the AJ Bell Stadium, brothers Joey and Darcy Lussick answered some light-hearted questions about one another. Joey had the last laugh though as his Red Devils side left it late to win 24-16 at the AJ Bell Stadium.

And finally, it was a night to remember for one young man in Castleford’s 16-12 victory over Wigan this weekend. Seventeen-year-old Sam Hall made his Super League debut for the Tigers, coming on for the final 20 minutes. Just look at the smile on his face!
