Daryl Powell pleased with Castleford’s “great start” to the season
Castleford coach Daryl Powell firmly believes the best is yet to come from his side.
The Tigers came from being 15-14 down at the break against Wakefield to claim a 32-15 victory thanks to a superb second half performance on Friday evening.
Powell said: “At half-time we spoke about upping our intensity a bit.
“The main thing was getting bit a more control in the game and spend some time attacking their try-line.
“They dominated territory in the first half and we needed to flip that, which we did.
“There’s lots of improvement in us but we’ve won three from four and it’s a great start from us. We’re in a good place.”
Oliver Holmes, 27, marked his 200th appearance for hometown club Castleford with a try over neighbours Wakefield.
Powell added: “It went down well. He’s such a good character and very popular with the lads.
“I’m really pleased he’s been able to reach 200 games at such a young age.”
