May return for Catalans
Catalans coach Steve McNamara feels it is important to give his players a fixed target as they prepare to restart the season and May 4 has been selected, reports League Express.
He told League Express: “If the Super League season can get up and running in June, which is the earliest possible start we have at the moment, then we’ll be back on May 4 to start training for a month and get ready for the season.”
Kenny-Dowall on Super League
Shaun Kenny-Dowall discusses ‘whirlwind’ start at Hull KR and gives first impressions of Super League, reports Hull Live.
He told Hull Live: “I’m loving every minute of it and can’t wait to get back out there to start playing the game I love and put on a show for the fans.”
Woolford hits out at Hetherington comments
Huddersfield coach Simon Woolford has slammed Gary Hetherington’s comments regarding player welfare, reports League Express.
Woolford told League Express: “I think Gary’s comments around playing three games in a week not having an effect on player welfare are off the mark and irresponsible.”
Currie impressing Price
Ben Currie is showing signs that he may be getting back to his best form, reports Warrington Guardian.
Wolves coach Steve Price told Warrington Guardian: “I’m really happy with where he’s at but I’ve said all along that it takes a long time to get over the kind of serious injuries he’s had.”
Kear outlines season plan
Bradford coach John Kear has outlined a plan that he believes could see rugby league finish the 2020 season in a satisfactory way, reports League Express.
He told League Express: “I’d say to Toulouse and Catalans that they retain their places in the respective competitions for 2021 and Toronto for me would have to play all their matches in England.”
