Despite suffering a multitude of injuries the walking wounded of Newcastle recorded an amazing 24-12 win over Cronulla.

The Knights lost Jarrod Mullen Steve Simpson early on and their worries were added to when the Sharks scored a try through new signing Trent Barrett.

But Newcastle playmaker Scott Dureau strolled through for a try before Cory Paterson dived over.

Further tries to Chris Houston and Richard Fa’aoso took the Knights out further in front and despite a try from Blake Green Cronulla were unable to create any more chances.

The Knights lost Cameron Ciraldo for the season with a severe ankle dislocation to compound their injury worries.
