Iosefa stood down

Penrith bosses have stood down hooker Masada Iosefa following allegations he was involved in a booze-fuelled brawl in Sydney over the weekend.

Panthers officials took the decision to sideline Iosefa for a week after he was charged by police with affray, resisting arrest and failing to leave a licensed premises.

Iosefa was out with team mates celebrating the 21st birthday of Michael Jennings when the alleged trouble broke out.

Penrith chief executive Mick Leary told AAP: “This club has high expectations of its players and the message across the game could not be clearer about the need to observe the codes of conduct that are in place.”

“Masada will be stood down for a week on the basis of our concern over the situation he placed himself in on the night”.

“We will review the matter only after the current court proceedings are concluded. Masada has a right to defend himself in relation to those matters and we would hope that he is able to do so.”
