Titans hopeful on Bailey recovery

Gold Coast prop Luke Bailey is hoping to recover from a knee injury in time for Monday night’s clash with Penrith.

The Titans co-captain was named by Titans coach John Cartwright in an unchanged 17-man squad to that which defeated Canberra at the weekend, which lifted Gold Coast to the top of the NRL table.

In a positive for the club, MRI scans taken on Monday cleared Bailey of serious damage in his knee and the Titans are hopeful a long week in the lead-up to the clash against the Panthers will aid in his recovery.

Cartwright said: “He’s got a bit of a jarred knee I suppose you could call it – a bit of bone bruising.

“He doesn’t need an arthroscope which is good news … Considering it could have been cartilage and ligament damage, we’d rather have it as it is.

“He just has to have a little bit of rest and he’s not out of the picture for this weekend.”

Bailey has recently expressed his desire to move to Super League after his contract ends at the Titans.
