Manly suffer Stewart blow
Manly have suffered another cruel blow with news that star fullback Brett Stewart could be out for up to three months with a knee injury.
Stewart suffered damage to his right knee during the Sea Eagles’ win over South Sydney and although initial diagnosis was that the injury was not serious, scans have since revealed a problem. He will require surgery which will see him sidelined for between eight and 12 weeks.
The NSW Origin star was suspended for the opening four rounds due to his behaviour at a boozy pre-season function which ultimately lead to him being charged with sexual assault on a 17-year-old female.
The news will come as a huge blow for Manly and Stewart who has scored five tries in the last two matches.
Manly Coach Des Hasler has named Michael Robertson in place of Stewart for the clash against North Queensland on Saturday.
He told Foxsports: “It is just shocking bad luck for Brett but Michael Robertson will do the job.” “Brett is a strong character and will work hard on his rehabilitation to minimise his time on the sideline.”
