Halifax sign Giants half-back
Halifax have signed Huddersfield half-back Tom Hemingway on a month’s loan to cover for the injured Mick Govin.
Hemingway, 22, trained with his new team mates for the first time last night and could feature in Sunday’s clash against Sheffield.
He is effectively a replacement for Govin, who is set to be out for six weeks with a knee injury.
“Tom is here for a month initially, which will give both parties a chance to assess the situation,” said Fax chief executive Graham Clay.
“If everything goes to plan, we would then look to extend the arrangement through to the end of the season.
“Mick Govin is obviously out of action for a while and we felt we needed to compensate for that.
“We actually looked at signing Tom over the winter, but he had some problems with his shoulder which required surgery.
“He’s proved his fitness since then and has played four games for Huddersfield in the last month, three in reserve grade and in the Challenge Cup against Rochdale last weekend.
“He’s noted for a strong kicking game and we feel he will give us something a little bit different.”
