Czechs take on Germans in Euro Shield
The Czech national team take on Germany in Olomouc, around 250 kilometres east of Prague, on Saturday, July 4th, in the Rugby League European Federation’s European Shield competition.
Before the European Shield game, which kicks off at 5pm, two of the Czech Republic’s leading clubs side — 1. Armadni RLFC Praslavice and Pardubice Jets RL — will play an exhibition game from 3pm.
As preparation for the European Shield, a Czech development XIII faced a Catalonia representative side at Barcelona’s Olympic stadium (Estadi Olimpic) on June 20th, prior to the Catalans Dragons-Warrington Wolves Super League game.
Playing in front of 22,000 fans, the Czechs limited their vastly more experienced Catalonian opponents to a 52-10 win.
Entry to Saturday’s game, at the TJ Lokomotiva Olomouc ground, is by voluntary donation and all are welcome.
For their next European Shield game, on Saturday, July 11th, the Czech Republic will travel to Italy.
