Bradford confirm Newton exit

Bradford have confirmed that hooker Terry Newton will leave the club at the end of the season.

Newton, 30, is rumoured to be set for a move to Wakefield on a two-year deal and this now looks likely after the Bulls confirmed his departure at the end of his current contract.

He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years at the Bulls.  It’s a great club to play for and I’d like to thank everyone at the club for their help and support during my time here.  I am sad to leave but at this stage of my career I feel I need the security of a two year contract for my future and that of my family”.

The former Leeds and Wigan hooker joined the club in 2006 and has scored 27 tries in 92 appearances.

Bulls Chairman Peter Hood said: “Terry has given four year’s outstanding service to Bradford Bulls and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Club. 

“We were prepared to consider a one year contract extension but Terry wanted the security that a two year deal would offer him.  On behalf of the Club I would like to express my thanks for his contribution to the Bulls and wish him every success for the future.”
