Tansey secures early Hull move
Hull have moved to ease their injury worries by bringing in new signing Jordan Tansey until the end of the season.
The 22-year-old recently signed a two-year deal with the Black and Whites that was set to start at the beginning of next season.
However, a deal has been struck with Tansey’s current club the Sydney Roosters, where he is on-loan, allowing him to join up with his new team-mates earlier than first planned.
At present, Tansey is on-loan from his parent club the Leeds Rhinos but will now sever all ties with both them and the Roosters to begin a new chapter in his career at the KC Stadium.
Head Coach Richard Agar said, ” It’s great to have Jordan here, he will give us some fresh impetus and enthusiasm and he is of course another option to consider at the back.
“He is a lively, versatile player that will bring a lot to the table and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Hull chief executive James Rule said: “We have been working on securing Jordan for this season for a number of weeks, however, the deal was only finally completed this morning and I would like to thank the Roosters and the Rhinos for their assistance.”
“As announced when we first signed Jordan, we have agreed a £30,000 transfer fee with the Rhinos.
“In light of our current injury situation, Richard and the board felt we needed to bring Jordan in this season if possible, so in order to facilitate that, we have agreed to pay a further transfer fee to the Roosters.”
Rule added: “Needless to say, I am delighted that we have been able to be pro-active and bring Jordan into a squad as soon as we have.”
Tansey is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future with versatility being his main attribute with his ability to play anywhere across the backs.
During his time with the Leeds Rhinos at Headingley he bagged 21 tries in 52 appearances following his debut in 2006 and is remembered by many for a last minute try against Bradford at Millennium Magic in 2007.
He joined the Sydney Roosters earlier this season making 8 appearances.
He will go straight in to Hull’s 19-man squad to face the Celtic Crusaders on Friday, subject to official clearance from the RFL.
