Duo charged by RFL

Brett Ferres could miss Castleford’s mouthwatering local derby clash against rivals Wakefield on Sunday after being charged by the RFL.

The 23-year-old forward committed a late and dangerous tackle in the eighth minute of the Tigers’ victory over Salford and could be out for a maximum of four games if found guilty at a hearing tomorrow night.

Warrington’s Richie Mathers has similarly been called to Red Hall after being found guilty of the same offence, and could also be missing for the next four games.

Meanwhile, St Helens were given a boost after Keiron Cunningham was only given a formal caution for hitting out at Wakefield’s prop forward, James Stosic.

Video replays showed that in an attempt to play-the-ball, Cunningham hit out at the New Zealander. However, the disciplinary ruled that it was an accident to hit Stosic in the eye and that a caution is an appropriate action to take.
