Titans’ Zillman appeal dismissed

The Gold Coast Titans‘ appeal against William Zillman‘s four-match ban for biting has been dismissed by the NRL.

Zillman was handed the punishment on Wednesday after being charged with dangerous conduct for biting South Sydney winger Jamie Simpson.

The Titans immediatley launched an appeal against the punishment but on consideration, the judiciary’s ruling was upheld.

Titans managing director Michael Searle said the club was “disappointed” in the decision.

“While we are disappointed we were unsuccessful in convincing the chairman of the need to grant an appeal, we acknowledge that the process has allowed the club the chance to do so,” Searle told AAP.

“We stand firm in our support of William and his continued protest of innocence.

“However, we now consider the matter closed.”
