Championships round-up
Keighley and Barrow secured their places in their respective Grand Finals with wins over the weekend.
Barrow thrashed Halifax 35-12 at Craven Park with a superb display, and they will face either Fax or Featherstone in the Championship Grand Final.
Jamie Rooney scored seven goals and a drop goal in an excellent display, as Barrow showed ruthlessness and class in victory. James Nixon (2), Andy Ballard, Ned Catic and Andy Bracek scored for the Raiders, with Fax limited to just two converted Shad Royston tries in return.
Featherstone shocked fancied Widnes at the Stobart Stadium with Iestyn Harris turning back the years with a vintage performance. The home side looked good with a 12-0 lead in the first half, but Rovers turned that round to lead 14-12 at the break, thanks to a late penalty by Harris. Featherstone then stretched that advantage to 26-12 in to the final quarter and despite a fightback from the Vikings, Harris’ late try sealed a 32-24 win over Daryl Powell’s side.
In Championship 1, Keighley booked their place in the final with a 32-18 win over York. The Cougars scored six tries to York’s three to go through to the final at the first attempt, while York must now play Oldham to decide who faces Keighley at Warrington on October 4.
Oldham sealed their place in the deciding play-off with a 54-30 win over Hunslet at Boundary Park. Chris Baines scored four tries and nine goals in a superb individual performance in the high-scoring encounter.
