Jones-Bishop joins Quins on loan

Harlequins have announced the signing of Ben Jones-Bishop on a one year loan deal from Leeds Rhinos.

The highly regarded full back is a product of the Leeds academy with whom he played in the 2007 Academy Grand Final. In 2008 he made his first team debut, in which he was named man of the match, and then went on to make a further three appearances that season.

Harlequins fans will remember Jones-Bishop scoring a spectacular try on his first visit to the Stoop in 2008. The 21-year-old picked up a loose ball and ran 60 metres to score in the fifth round of the Carnegie Challenge Cup.

Jones-Bishop chose Harlequins over several other Super League clubs competing for his services because of his desire to work under Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott and experience life in the capital.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing the new challenges that lie ahead at Harlequins. I’m very eager to play more Super League and hope that I can achieve this in London.”

McDermott said he looks forward to working with Jones-Bishop:

“Ben is ready to play first team at the moment and we’re always looking at ways to strengthen the quality of our squad.”
