Galea joins Raiders

Canberra have sought to fill the gap left by the departed  Phil Graham, Adrian Purtell and Nigel Plum by adding West Tigers utility Danny Galea to their ranks
 
Galea, 26, comes to the Raiders as a back rower but can also play centre and will give Raiders boss another dimension to his squad.
 
He said: “All the facilities down here are fantastic and I look like I’m going to be given a good opportunity to play some more NRL footy at the Raiders and I can’t wait to get into it”.

“I just want to get on the field first and get myself a position whether it is starting or on the bench and then hopefully help the team get down to winning some games which is the main thing.”
 
A chat with former team-mate Bronson Harrison tipped the scales in favour of Canberra for Galea, who is a former Penrith player.
 
“I spoke to Bronson before he went overseas and he told me how much he enjoys it down here and the change in the way he’s playing his footy shows its working for him down here,” he said. “Just speaking to a few of the other players you can see it’s a real tight knit group down here and I’m looking forward to getting involved.”
 
Raiders Chief Don Furner said the club was excited about having a player with Galea’s ability on the books and looked forward to him joining the club for pre-season training.
 
“With the unexpected retirement of Glen Turner we needed someone to fill his position and with Danny he can also play centre which will help with the departure of Phil Graham and Adrian Purtell he covers both,” Furner said. “We’ve got a young backline and some young back rowers as well so he gives us some experience on the edges.”
