Casty and Esders handed bans

Harlequins player Ryan Esders and Remy Casty of Catalans Dragons will both miss their sides’ respective Engage Super League matches this weekend after being suspended by the RFL Disciplinary Committee this evening.

Esders, who admitted his guilt, was banned for one match for a dangerous throw on Warrington Wolves full-back Richie Mathers in last Sunday’s match at Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Casty pleaded not guilty to a charge of making a careless high tackle on Paul Johnson of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats but was also suspended for one match after the Committee deemed his elbow had come into contact with his opponent as he fell to the ground.

The Committee also found Huddersfield Giants forward Andy Raleigh guilty of making dangerous contact with Matt Orford as the Bradford Bulls scrum-half kicked the ball on Friday night.

However after taking into account the player’s impeccable disciplinary record, the Committee ruled that Raleigh, who pleaded not guilty, should not be suspended. Instead, a written warning has been placed on the player’s record.
