Leigh full back joins Haven on loan

Leigh full back Ian Mort has joined Championship rivals Whitehaven on a one month loan.

Mort, a product of the Leigh scholarship scheme, made his debut for the Centurions against Sheffield in 2008 and was the club’s top scorer last season with 11 tries and 74 goals.

Coach Ian Millward said: “Competition for places in the first team squad is really high at the moment, and the next reserve game is a month away.

“That means that Ian won’t be getting the game time he needs, so a spell up at Whitehaven will help in his development, for when further opportunities arise.”
