Catalans confirm Mogg release

Catalans have released Australian stand-off Adam Mogg from his contract, ahead of a likely move to the NRL.

Mogg, 32, asked the Dragons to release him from the final 18 months on his contract for family reasons, citing homesickness after almost four years in France.

He has been heavily linked to a return to the NRL with Canberra Raiders, having previously made 81 appearances for the Green Machine.

Mogg said: “I would like to thank the club and all its supporters for their support during my four years in France. I had a fantastic time in Perpignan and this experience will stay forever in my heart. My two kids were born in Perpignan and I met great French people in the whole region.

“I am very proud to have worn the Catalans Dragons colors and helped the club development with young French kids playing now in Super League. Despite my early departure, I will be an ambassador of the club in Australia searching for young Australian talents and giving some advices to the new club recruits in term of french way of life! I wish long life to the club and thanks again for everything.”

Catalans have now been linked with a move for wantaway Wakefield half-back Danny Brough, who was last week linked with a move to Huddersfield.

Former Wakefield back-rower Olivier Elima said of Mogg: “Adam was a real professional player, a fierce competitor who has been a major influence since his arrival.”
