Toronto chairman heaps praise on RFL boss Ralph Rimmer for securing government loan

Toronto chairman Bob Hunter says the emergency loan from the government is in “good hands” with the RFL.

Last Friday, the government announced they will pledge a £16million loan to the RFL to help ease financial worry on the sport during the coronavirus crisis.

However, Toronto, Toulouse and Catalans aren’t able to benefit from the loan to the sport.

Hunter said: “Toronto Wolfpack welcome today’s news of a £16 million loan being awarded to the RFL by the UK government.

“We must give huge respect to the leadership RFL chief executive Ralph Rimmer has shown in his work with the UK government on this project.

“We know from first hand experience Ralph’s commitment to the development of the game at all levels, and these announcements are warmly received in helping safeguard the immediate future of our great game.

“We appreciate how this support from the UK government will be a huge lifeline for many of the fantastic clubs we have met in our short history.

“We are confident these funds will be in very good hands with the RFL in ensuring that our fellow clubs not only meet the challenges of COVID-19, but also that we all build a more sustainable game moving forwards.”
