Brisbane 0-59 Sydney: Roosters run in 10 tries to thrash Broncos
It was an onslaught at Suncorp Stadium as Sydney won 59-0 against a young Brisbane side that had to deal with a host of noticeable names missing.
The Roosters were without key personnel themselves though, with no star man James Tedesco, who was sidelined through illness.
However, his absence was barely noticed as soon as the Morris brothers combined to score the opening try of the night when Brett put Josh through to score. Brett then set up the second with Joseph Manu going over the whitewash.
The Roosters were becoming ruthless further into the game as the Broncos began to tire and Victor Radley saw an opportunity to take on the line. He bundled over to score under the posts, carrying two defenders with him.
Brisbane had an opportunity close to the line to get their first points of the night but Brett Morris was not going to let that happen as he dragged Corey Oates across the sideline.
The Roosters continued to apply the pressure to an already crumbling Brisbane side as Angus Crichton and Flanagan scored before Keary kicked a drop goal on the stroke of half-time to send the Roosters into the break 29-0 to the good.
It was Keary who scored the first points of the second half, this time with a try, as the playmaker raced away to score underneath the posts to further Sydney’s dominant lead.
Keary then turned into the assistant as he gifted the ball to Lindsay Collins who strolled over and not long after Crichton got his double after bundling over the line.
The Morris brothers linked up once more to put Daniel Tupou in down the left side to achieve a half century of unopposed points with less than ten minutes remaining in the contest.
Then Brett Morris rounded off an excellent performance filling in at full-back with a well-deserved try of his own.
