Salford wait on Holdsworth decision

Salford have given star Australian half-back Daniel Holdsworth a deadline to decide whether he wants to stay at the club.

The former Canterbury Bulldog arrived at the club on a one-year deal at the beginning of the season and has quickly become a favourite at The Willows following some impressive performances.

His form has also caught the eye of several rival clubs, prompting the Reds to offer Holdsworth a new three-year deal.

Reds football director Steve Simms said: “I have spoken with his agent and I’ve told him we need a definite decision from Daniel.

“We simply want a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ from him and then we can all move on. We need to know where we stand and what is happening.”

Salford found their season last time round disrupted by speculation surrounding young scrum half Richie Myler, who ended up leaving the club for Warrington in a big money move at the end of 2009, and are looking to avoid such disruption this term.
