Scorpions hope for another good crowd
South Wales coach Anthony Seibold is hoping for another large crowd at The Gnoll on Sunday for the visit of Rochdale Hornets.
Scorpions had a record crowd of 890 for the visit of Swinton Lions last week.
“It was a fantastic atmosphere,” said Seibold. “It would be great to have another good crowd this week as it will be a tough game for us.
“We need all the support we can muster as we look to put in a performance which befits the effort that we put in each week.”
Jamie Murphy and Lee Williams are both ruled out for up to a month with rib injuries, joining David James, Harri Greville, Jamie Tibbs and Sam Studley on the sidelines.
Seibold added: “Rochdale are the form team in the competition. They are very well coached and a very good team at this level.
“They have shot up into fourth on the table, and their win over Hunslet last weekend just shows why I consider them to be the dark horses in this competition.”
Peter Fairhurst may start for Rochdale, while Dale Blackwood could also get a chance to impress.
Hornets coach John Stankevitch said: “This is definitely a potential banana skin. South Wales started the season really well and they’ve got some talented players in there.
“I’ve coached Loz Wildbore before and I know what his talent is all about. They’ve got a dummy-half threat in Steve Parry and Aled James has played at Widnes, he’s a strong runner with something about him.
“They’re not one of the highest scorers in the league, but they’re one of the better defensively organised sides.”
