Scorpions sign York half-back
South Wales Scorpions have signed 26-year old half-back Casey Bromilow from York City Knights.
The Australian-born player will take up the Scorpions’ one and only foreign player quota spot that have yet to use this season.
He is a former Queensland Cup player with Easts Tigers and Wests Panthers (the level immediately below NRL in Australia), has British ancestry and a five-year visa, and is a teacher by trade. He has made 11 appearances for York since joining them at the start of the season, scoring five tries, one of them against the Scorpions in their close 25-24 win against the Welsh side in York earlier this year.
Scorpions’ coach Anthony Seibold, an old friend of Bromilow, said: “Casey is moving to Wales for personal reasons, he’s secured a teaching job down here so he contacted me for a possible transfer. We’re old friends, he went to my old school in Australia, so it will be good to see him again. He’ll take up our one and only quota spot for foreign signings and will give our squad a boost as we go into the final third of the regular season. Thank you to York City Knights for releasing him and making it such an easy agreement.”
