Wolves comfortable with overseas quota

Warrington have confirmed they will fit in with Super League quota restrictions after announcing the re-signing of winger Chris Hicks.

Hicks, 33, was due to return to Australia at the end of the season and it was thought that his quota place had been taken up by new recruit Brett Hodgson, who will join the Wolves from Huddersfield for 2011.

However, the former Manly winger has now signed a new one-year deal to remain at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

It takes the Wolves’ overseas contingent to six – Hodgson, Hicks, Matt King, Michael Monaghan, Louis Anderson and David Solomona – but the club confirmed that certain exemptions apply.

In a statement issued in the local press, Warrington didn’t confirm the exact details of the exemptions, but said: “The club fully operates to the Rugby Football League quota for overseas players.

“The RFL have specific regulations regarding the overseas quota and long-serving players in this country sit outside of the overseas quota.”
